Biography
Televizyon dünyasında büyük bir saygınlık kazanan Eccleston, Peter Flannery’nin yazdığı "Our Friends in the North" (1996) dizisinde canlandırdığı Nicky Hutchinson karakteriyle hem eleştirmenlerin hem de izleyicilerin takdirini topladı. Ancak küresel popüler kültür tarihindeki yerini perçinleyen rolü, 2005 yılında BBC'nin efsanevi bilimkurgu dizisi "Doctor Who"nun modern dönemine yeniden başlamasıyla geldi. Dizinin dokuzuncu "Doktor"u olarak seriye modern, enerjik ve biraz da melankolik bir soluk getiren Eccleston, karakterin yeniden popülerleşmesinde kilit bir rol oynadı. Her ne kadar seriden sadece bir sezon sonra ayrılmış olsa da, hayranlar arasında "Doktor" imajını yeniden tanımlayan isim olarak özel bir yere sahiptir.

İngiliz tiyatrosunun en zorlu klasikleri olan Shakespeare oyunlarında (Macbeth, Hamlet) sergilediği performanslarla tiyatro sahnesindeki ağırlığını koruyan aktör, son yıllarda "The Leftovers" (2014-2017) dizisindeki Matt Jamison karakteriyle eleştirmenlerden tam not alarak dramatik derinliğini bir kez daha gözler önüne serdi. Kendi otobiyografisinde de dürüstçe paylaştığı zorlu yaşam mücadeleleri ve sektördeki duruşuyla tanınan Christopher Eccleston, hem aksiyon kahramanlarını hem de trajik figürleri aynı inandırıcılıkla canlandırabilen, günümüz İngiliz sinema ve tiyatrosunun en tutarlı ve entelektüel aktörlerinden biri olarak kariyerini sürdürmektedir.
