Biography

Taika David Waititi, Yeni Zelandalı yönetmen ve aktör. Wellington'da Maori kökenli bir baba ve Rus Yahudisi kökenli bir annenin oğlu olarak doğan Waititi, yine bu şehirdeki Victoria Ünviersitesi'nde drama okudu. Jemaine Clement ile kurdukları The Humourbeasts adlı komedi ikilisi sayesinde ülkesinde ün kazandı, ayrıca bu yıllarda ülkesinde ve Avustralya'da bazı filmlerde rol aldı. 2003'te yazıp yönettiği Two Cars, One Night adlı kısa filmle En İyi Kısa Film dalında Oscar adaylığı elde etti. Eagle vs Shark (2007) ve Boy (2010) filmlerini yönettiği gibi filmlerde de rol aldı. 2011 yapımı Yeşil Fener filmindeki Thomas Kalmaku rolüyle Hollywood'da da kendine oyuncu olarak bir yer edindi. Arkasından What We Do in the Shadows (2014) ve Hunt for the Wilderpeople (2016) filmlerini yönetip başrolde oynadı. 2017'de de Thor: Ragnarok filmini yönetti, ayrıca Korg karakteriyle oyuncu olarak da yer aldı. Chelsea Winstanley ile evli olan Waititi'nin 2012 doğumlu Te Hinekāhu adlı bir kızı vardır.
