Stephen Fry
Biography
Kariyerine televizyon ve komedi dünyasında fırtına gibi bir giriş yapan Fry, 1980'lerde ve 90'larda İngiliz televizyonunun en sevilen yüzlerinden biri haline geldi. Kült komedi dizisi "Blackadder"da canlandırdığı General Melchett karakteri ve Hugh Laurie ile birlikte hazırladıkları efsanevi skeç şovu "A Bit of Fry & Laurie" (1989-1995) ile komedi dehasını kanıtladı. Aynı dönemde yine Laurie ile başrolü paylaştığı, P.G. Wodehouse uyarlaması "Jeeves and Wooster" (1990-1993) dizisindeki zeki uşak Jeeves rolüyle büyük beğeni topladı.
Sinema dünyasındaki en ikonik ve övgü toplayan performansını, 1997 yapımı biyografik "Wilde" filminde canlandırdığı efsanevi yazar Oscar Wilde karakteriyle sergiledi; bu kusursuz performans ona Altın Küre adaylığı kazandırdı. Hollywood projelerinde de sıkça boy gösteren usta oyuncu, distopik gerilim filmi "V for Vendetta"da (2005) Gordon Deitrich, Robert Downey Jr.'lı "Sherlock Holmes: Gölge Oyunları"nda (Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows) (2011) Mycroft Holmes ve Peter Jackson'ın epik "Hobbit" üçlemesinde ("Smaug'un Çorak Toprakları" 2013, "Beş Ordunun Savaşı" 2014) Gölkent'in Efendisi (Master of Lake-town) gibi unutulmaz karakterlere hayat verdi. Yakın dönemde de "It's a Sin" (2021) ve "The Sandman" (2022) gibi popüler dizilerde etkileyici roller üstlendi.
Oyunculuk yeteneğinin yanı sıra muazzam ses tonu, diksiyonu ve geniş kültürüyle de tanınan Fry, Birleşik Krallık'ta "Harry Potter" serisinin tüm sesli kitaplarını seslendirdi ve "Otostopçunun Galaksi Rehberi" (The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy) (2005) filminde Anlatıcı olarak yer aldı. Aynı zamanda dünyaca ünlü İngiliz bilgi yarışması programı "QI"ı 2003'ten 2015'e kadar başarıyla sundu.
Sadece bir aktör ve komedyen değil, aynı zamanda çok satan kitaplara (özellikle Yunan mitolojisini anlattığı Mythos serisi) imza atan başarılı bir yazar, belgeselci ve ruh sağlığı aktivisti olan Stephen Fry, olağanüstü zekası, entelektüel birikimi ve çok yönlü sanat kimliğiyle modern İngiliz kültürünün en ikonik ve saygın figürlerinden biri olarak üretken kariyerine devam etmektedir.
